Mission & Vision

Our mission is simple – to help senior citizens’ keep pets where they belong – safe and happy in their own homes with those that they love.

Creating happy and healthy relationships takes a special kind of talent; one that revolves around the senior/pet connection. Companion Connections talented caregivers are there to help create that connection. Caregivers are matched with senior pet owners to provide assistance in tailoring that connection to the needs of each client. By matching a caregiver with an elderly client and their companion, the program provides for the care and well-being of both the senior and the pet and creates lasting and loving relationships between the caregiver, senior and their pets.

Companion Connections services program is two-fold; 1) we help seniors (age 60 or older) who currently have a pet and need that extra ‘help’ when it comes to pet maintenance, and 2) to help seniors find that perfect companion from local participating foster and shelter services – including paying for adoption, veterinary exams and spay/neuter fees. Our vision is to provide lifetime connections between seniors and their pets.

We personally understand the importance of animal companionship for senior citizens living alone. Pet of seniors become their best friends and their company positively impacts mental and physical health creating longer life and mental well-being.

Why we do it

As years pass, we found our elderly parents no longer able to keep up with pet maintenance and the monetary burden of vet care. Therefore, all of us siblings found ourselves coordinating financial support and chores so that our parents could keep their loving charges. It was during this time that we realized that there were many other pet loving seniors, some of whom did not have family or support, who needed a touch of the ‘extra’ when it came to their pets. Hence, Companion Connections was born. Born out of our love for both seniors and their companions.

Today, the need for Companion Connections can never be clearer. The most serious disease for seniors is not cancer or heart disease – it’s loneliness. Pets offer affection, unconditional love, fight loneliness, and can help ease the loss of a loved one. Owning a pet also offers many physical and social benefits for seniors. Regardless of age, pets bring joy, love, and companionship. They inspire us each and every day, they positively impact our health and can change how we see the world.
